The Next Stage: Jewish Theater by Millenial & Gen Z Playwrights

My one-act play, G TRAIN EXODUS, is being featured in this awesome 20s & 30s event at NYC's Central Synagogue. In honor of Women's History Month, G TRAIN will be featured alongside my illustrious colleague Molly Levine's play DAUGHTERS OF MIRIAM. The evening will also include dinner (would it really be a Jewish event without food?) and a talkback with Rabbinic Intern Brooklyn Michalowicz.

If you're in NYC, come through! Judaism not required. Learn more and grab tickets here.

Commuting is tough enough without a sentient talking subway train trying to derail your plans.

THE FLOOD in UW-Parkside's FreshINK Series

I had an amazing time at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where THE FLOOD received two readings on February 2 & 3 as part of their FreshINK series.

The cast, creative team, and faculty were wonderful, and I really enjoyed the talkbacks with the students after each performance.

Thanks so much for having me, Parkside!

Jess Teaches Playwriting at Princeton Adult School

I'm delighted to share I'll begin teaching playwriting through Princeton Adult School this fall.

This will be the first time I'll be running a class for adults (most of my experience is for students ages 8-16), and I'm excited for this new chapter (and to be able to assign plays that include mature content!).

The class is virtual, so you can participate from anywhere. Come write with me!

Jess Wins The 2016 Chair's Award in Dramatic Writing

I'm thrilled to share that I've received the Chair's Award from The Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts!

This prize is the department's most prestigious honor and is awarded to one graduating MFA student per year in recognition of overall excellence and distinguished achievement in writing for stage, screen, and television.

I am truly honored and humbled by this recognition. Thank you, NYU DDW!

Hear a Reading of Jessica's MFA Thesis, "The Flood"

I've been hard at work on my thesis at NYU, and I'm excited to share THE FLOOD at my "official" thesis reading.

By Jessica Fleitman
Directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni

"The Flood" is new myth based on the story of Noah's Ark, told from the point of view of the River who's been commanded to drown out humanity.

See The Game of Lost Things in
Tisch's PlayGround Series

My one-act play, THE GAME OF LOST THINGS, is one of only four plays selected for NYU's PlayGround Festival. I'm honored to have my work included in this wonderful group of plays. Hope you can see it! More info below.

Production: The Game of Lost Things
By Jessica Fleitman
Directed by Sarah Wansley

Three famous game pieces -- The White Queen, Miss Scarlett, and Top Hat -- stumble upon each other in the aftermath of a great flood. Their kingdoms ruined, their fellow pieces destroyed, they must come together to figure out the rules to this new game. A dark comedy about identity, loss and transformation.

"PlayGround" is a collaboration between Tisch Drama and the Rita & Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing showcasing four new short plays presented during each of six performances over one exciting festival weekend.
