MUSICAL THEATER

Jessica is the "Fleitman" half of the songwriting duo "Fleitman & Bassett" (with composer Rick Bassett comprising the other half). Fleitman & Bassett were awarded the 2018 Jerry Harrington Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Musical Theatre, and their work has been featured at NY City Center’s “Front & Center: The Original Musicals of Tomorrow with Tom Kitt,” "A Little New Music" in Los Angeles, Duplex "In the Works" series and elsewhere.

Fleitman & Bassett were commissioned by the Wellsongs Project to honor and raise funds for children with special needs; their song "One One Direction" and the entire project is available through Broadway Records. Their children's musical “Little Miss Shushan: A Musical Megillah” (JCP Downtown commission) received its world premiere in 2015. The team is currently hard at work adapting Jessica's award-winning play "The Average-Sized Mermaid" into a new musical comedy.

Jessica is member of both the BMI Musical Theatre Advanced Songwriting Workshop and the BMI Librettists Workshop. She is the librettist and lyricist of the short musical adaptation of Luke Matheny's Oscar-winning film "God of Love" with composer Ben Boecker, and her song "The Life I Almost Had" with composer Jacob Fjeldheim was featured in Tony-winning writer William Finn's emerging writers concert series at New York Theater Barn.
